Depending on your favorite style of music, you’ve likely been defaulting to one of the two main pentatonic shapes. 

If you're a rocker or a metalhead like me, my bet is you favor the minor pentatonic scale.  On the other hand, if country is more your thing, you’re probably more partial to the major pentatonic scale. 

The problem is, most people get stuck in whatever box they’ve become most comfortable with, which causes them to run out of ideas and hit plateaus with their musical growth.
